Craft and Computer Classes
The Craft and Computer Classes are for carers and care recipients registered with the Volunteer Community Support Program at Carers NT. There is no criteria to join the classes. Participants are simply invited to come along and learn some new skills.
The main objective of the craft class is to enjoy making different craft products, to build confidence and obtain social interaction. The facilitator often adds a theme to the craft classes in line with other events happening at that time of the year.
The objectives of the computer classes are to develop confidence and self-esteem among participants, to build awareness of risks associated with online activities, to provide participants with the opportunity to increase their skills for employment and lastly to provide the opportunity to connect with social media and the group itself to reduce social isolation.
Transport to the craft and computer classes can be organised, however please note that preference will be given to the participants of the Volunteer Community Support Program with disability. A gold coin donation is appreciated when participating in the craft class. For the computer class, participants are encouraged to bring their own devices like an iPad, Notebook (laptop) or tablet as the Volunteer Program has limited devices at its disposal.
Craft and Computer classes are each run once per month on the weekend, the Activity Calendar can be viewed here.
Individual flyers are sent to regular participants in advance of each event so you are encouraged to get in touch with the Volunteer Coordinator if you would like to be added to the mailing list.
If you would like to like to find out more about the Craft or Computer Classes or to be added to the mailing list contact the Volunteer Coordinator on 1800 242 636 or email email@example.com.
